Thunder Mountain
When this fella shows, you just know that everything else,,, :uhohis watching:uhoh.
Truly a World Class Blackie from the Wilds of British Columbia! Every year I await eagerly for spring to roll in. This winter was a Kling-On; just 10 days ago, his mountain got a fresh dusting of white AND we had frost nearly every morning where we camped on it (~1000' elevation). The trip consisted of 10 days, of which 7 were in the bush, specificly on the look-out for Bears; we had 28 natural sightings. All had tremendous coats still with no signs of rubs... Sucks to be back home. :cry
Bears are real tough to judge but I'd put this fella near the 6.5 - 7' mark on the tape (nose to tail), with a weight of 400#'s. And still feel comfy that I'm under-estimating him - Big, BIG, pig of a Bear. Before hibernation, he likely was 15-20% heavier (YOWZA!!).
I shot him from ~65' (read: butt pucker) using my 70-300 Nikkor set at 116mm, f5 @ 1/125sec. Post as of now is minimal and I'm not sure what I wanna do with him... I'm thinking B&W conversion with some moody overlay,,,, we'll see. :dunno
Thanks for looking.

Being from Alaska, you'd know one to see one. Amazing what a good feed of fall run Salmon will do for the waist line - He hangs out on the remote west coast of Vancouver Island and I found him about a 1/2 mile away from a substantial estuary. NICE example.
Got about 30 shots off before he decided it was time for me to go via a short bluff charge down the burm he was standing on.... Big Bear ---> Big Attitudes.
I wanted to go back later to see if I could get some pad track measurements but no-go; you can't see past the 1st 3 leaves of that brush and there was a constant flow of bears there through the day. Call me Chicken, I say respect. :yikes
Fatter. If that's even imaginable..... When he took a step everything on him would roll and list. Impressive sight.
