A few MX race pics from Sunday

The last race of a series that I've been shooting and the worst pics I've shot in awhile. The sky was ever changing all day so I could never get a good setting and stick with it. Oh well, here are a few of my favs and no need to bash as I've already admitted that I missed the mark on most of these.

One word: Flash

Okay more than one word. IMO, these types of days is where shooting in manual are difficult and shooting in Av mode...with that one word above, might have garnered a little better results without the settings frustration.

But..I don't see anything to complain about anyway. Nice stuff Russ. thumb.gif

Missed the mark? Where?

This stuff is as good as I see in the mags most of the time so I wouldn't beat yourself up on it.

You're too hard on yourself. Flat light but still technically good.

I get that trying to shoot surfers in Norcal where most of the time it's foggy. I tried upping the in cam sat and vivid... But not truly happy getting contrast tween wet suits and black water & no pop.

anybody have suggestions I'm all ears..

Nice shots

I did use flash pretty much all day. I had a bit when my flash batteries died and I couldn't get to my car and those pics were really blahhh. I sent those pics to the bin!! I don't understand how some people love cloudy days.

I wouldn't have said to do anything but since you want us to nitpick, the only and only small detail that I see that could have been made a little better with some post process is to use a light amount of burn on the plastic fenders or number plates that have alot of direct sunlight. Burn tool will take some of the glare away and saturate the color a tad. But that is just nitpicking like I said.

I'll take clouds any day. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif" border="0" alt="" >

I think these pics are awesome
I like a little bit of cloud that way i don't get burnt to a crisp lol.
I end up just using TV on my camera and make sure the light is
behind me seems to be working fine for me.
I shoot certian corners in the morning and other corners on the
track in the afternoon.

Thanks guys. I'm not in love with these but I guess as long as others like them, that's what matters.

Amadeus, for that particular pic my settings were 640 shutter speed, 4.5 aperature at ISO 200.

Oh.. reason I said flash is because the photo info doesn't show flash was used, and there are some heavy shadows/blackout areas....

Maybe I looked at all the non-flash ones.. rolleyes1.gif

Good stuff though. thumb.gif
