First rings shot

Well some of you may remember I was going to shoot a friends wedding as a favour. Well the whole thing turned out to be a disaster, but for reasons unrelated to the wedding or photography.
The wedding itself was a mess and a disaster as well, but again because of the bride and groom, but rather not get into that mess. I will be posting pics of the wedding later for technical help, creatively it was impossible though :(

Anyways, best of the ring shots I got. I purposefully went for the narrow DOF and maybe overdone it in the pics. This is the best of the lot.
The couple are Wiccan, so into nature stuff. Thought the stone would be a nice backdrop and the read leaf things were from their single fancy table with the cake on it.

I also tried the rings on a tree, but the dirty gold vanished into the bark too much :(

Overall I am pleased with the shot, considering the subject matter I had.

Well I may only be marginally happy with this shot, but it was good enough for the bride to steal it. The photo anyways.

Not sure if I am flattered or insulted. This is a first for me.

Do you mean she downloaded the pic and posted it in her blog/site and/or printed it out without telling you? I used to ask classmates to pose for me (I graduated a couple of weeks ago and moved since then) and I'd normally find my photos in their facebooks - taken off my smugmug gallery, that is. They never inform me beforehand, but the only time it's bothered me was when one of them cropped out my copyright. Actually she's done it to every photo she's taken off my smugmug (ones of her). But I just let these go since it's not for professional purpose and they did me a favor for posing, plus I never really discussed with them if the can use the pics or not. Yours is a different matter, of course.

Did you have a written agreement/contract on how she can use your photos? Or somehow broached the subject? In this day and age, it's so easy to take a photo off the internet that I'd hazard most people don't even think about whether they can/should or not.

A partially finished version of this picture was posted on my facebook. So I expected it to be stolen but still.
Worse part is the editing she did to it after taking. She completely blurred the men's ring removing all detail. Sure it removed the pit in the ring (gone in this version) but it also removed the diamond (dirty dot) that the groom was bragging to me about.

Anyways, since it was posted on facebook, taken from facebook, re-edited then reposted with much bragging about how her smudged version was nicer.

Definately will not be making an issue out of this other than bragging about my first picture being stolen and used on facebook. I did make it very clear to them though that the photos I took in fact belong to me, not them. They were under the impression since the rings were theirs the photo belonged to them. Same as since they were in a photo the photo belonged to them. I corrected them.

As for contracts and such, none. Went as a friend left disgusted. Overall bad experience with the visit and even worse with the wedding.

Like really... First wedding shot and bride and groom go to the wedding in stained dirty daily wear shirts.... I was disappointed to say the least.

Well with all that mostly out of the way and me not really wanting to go into a bitchfest here because this is not the place for it. I would still like comments about the picture itself.

    C&C please.
