Search private galleries

Hello,
I've been digging around a lot, and haven't seen any way to do this without manually doing it myself... so before I spend a while building a custom search (for unlisted/private galleries), I wanted to make sure I wasn't just missing the obvious.
Essentially, I don't want to have all our photos just "out there" for everyone to see... we mainly use our smugmug account for proofing, which means most of the pictures aren't finished or edited. Fine for the client who sorts through looking for good expressions, but bad for the general image.
Instead, I would like to keep a few public galleries of finished work up, and have all the remaining proof galleries be hidden. The kicker is I'd like to have it so that someone can search for a specific keyword (such as bride/groom's last name) to pull up their proofs.
I don't expect this to thwart any determined person from finding all the "smith" pictures, or "jones" galleries... but at least it would keep the casual viewer from viewing all our un-edited work.
If there's anything already made that would accomplish this, I'd love to not have to build a little database/search page from scratch.
Any thoughts, ideas, comments or questions would be appreciated!

appended to the keyword list from any galleries that a password is entered.
Would be nice if search worked also. Both only work now when logged in.

You can right now, but only when logged in, unfortunately.
That's exactly what I want for people who are NOT logged in.
I guess I'm off to build a search page... and manually update the keyword database each time I add a private gallery.
Thanks for the input Allen... at least now I know that I'm not doing something that already is done for me.
