Do these do anything for anyone. Not a subject I typically shoot, but these two caught my eye. The wood in particular was very interesting. Any comments?

they're nice, but i'd go wiiiiiider, give's more feeling to me as viewer. also i think they need some more light/exposure (they appear to me a tad u.e.)

I like them, especially the first one. We have a ton of old barns around here. I've always wanted to just make an entire series of old barn shots....

Go for it, Amy. This may be a nice niche for you if you have many old barns in your area. You did mention in another post that you are having trouble finding willing subjects!

Andy, thanks for your comments. It is nice to be back in civilization after volunteering as the camp physician for one week in the mountains of Geogia. I'm looking forward to my own clean bed tonight! I have a lot of DGrin to catch up with.

    Hi Mitch,
These are some nice old barns. I agree with Andy in that they need to be lightened up. I keep looking into the shadows looking for more. Lightening should also bring out more detail into the textures of the wood. I like the tight crops on these barn, but do expect to see the detail from inside at this close of range.

I too have lots of barns around here and in the Sierra's and have been thinking about a barn gallery. They make such wonderful subjects, especially in the sweet light.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Chris

    Hi Mitchell,
I think these are an improvement, what do you think? I like the idea that I can now see into the shadows. Even though the first shots were a bit dark, they had something (mood) that seems to be missing/lessened in the brighter onesne_nau.gif. There's no pleasing some peoplerolleyes1.gif.
    Here's what I'm thinking:
The barns toned down, keep the shadow detail and the contrast in the foilage. Hmmm, that's a bit of PP. Just my opinion.

These are nice comps of the barns and I think worth working till you feel they are rightbiggrinbounce2.gif.

    nice
i don't know which ones i like, I personaly like the darkness and the feeling that it gave me when i saw them, but the light does open it up. I think that the dark is better, but i'm no pro.

Mitch - my first thought is that they appear a bit flat. Would a little contrast enhancement help?
