my new gitzo and ballhead

I just got a gitzo 2531 and a bh-40 recently! I'm pretty pumped and I wanted to tell people...... who would possibly understand and not think that i'm a HUGE dork (just a slight one). So does anyone have any advice or things to keep in mind when using it? Any cleaning tips?

Dorking ok! I am looking to upgrade o the Gitzo 2531 myself sometime, so I'm very envious. Congrats on your new toys!

I haven't found any cleaning necessary for the RRS heads, which I find is part of the beauty of their products. But I am also not very OCD with my gear and am pretty rough on 'em. Still, they hold up just fine.

I have that same combo and LOVE it. I haven't found the need to clean it yet so I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks all! The ball head will be delivered on Monday so this weekend I've gotta just sit here with my tripod with no head... gonna be a long weekend! haha

I haven't had to clean my RRS ballheads ever. And I'm not really super gentle. I do keep them in their protective pouches as much as I can.

The Gitzo, well, I had some scratches and on mine (2531) and I recently used a damp towel w/ nail polish remover, and it buffed up really nicely! Other than that, no maintenance really.
