Went looking for Raptors and....

this time I found some. I need some ID help with them.

Red shoulder Male :dunno

I have no idea never seen one and I could not get closer and it was 3pm (couldn't make it harder if I tried) Sorry, will try again I know where they live now :D
He/She all white chest and head about the size of a Coopers Hawk

    anaheim Hills, Weir Canyon Wilderness trail, Raptors, rattlesnakes, mtn. lions, coyotes etc. lets plan a trip there. Very hot though, I was there at the

    Not exactly widespread throughout the US.... nice find thumb.gif

    At least it wasn't a stinking skunk this time. :D

    Good captures. the last one looks like a shallow-tailed kite.

    I agree with Harry and Dani that's some sort of Kite. As Dani points out, they are pretty rare and really tough to nail in flight. I also agree that getting bird shots is much nicer (and safer) than getting skunked....Laughing.gif

    how was the Weir Canyon Trail? from what i've read it looks pretty treacherous...

    It is quiet rugged around, kinda wierd though all around are big $$$ homes/estates actually.
    Lots of up and down hill climbs, but think it's worth it to get what we like to shot, wildlife and lots of it. Saw numerous signs of larger cats too thumb.gif
    Right now though it's real hot when clouds burn off about 10am. Biting flies, ticks are next problem there. Found a couple of those buggers on me today. Just on my clothes no bites, whew

    Yeah but I have as yet not got any nice of these beauties :cry :D
    And I'm gonna ask you and Harry
    What do you think is the best way to exp for these birds?

    when and if I get in a better shooting position ---- How would you handle the exposure??
