Now I'm really glad I put together an XP x64 machine recently! Waiting until the end of October would be brutal.

Sure hope MS does a better job with Win 7 than they did with that abomination known as Vista! :D

    Pete,
while I hate Vista with my guts (Lord knows how much grief it brought me with my Star*Explorer support alone), I *love* Windows 7/64. iloveyou.gif
Give it a try, RC is good till March 2010, and I'm sure they will allow clean upgrade from RC to RealMcCoy... deal.gif

As per Microsoft you cannot upgrade from Windows 7 Beta to the Release Candidate, nor will you be able to upgrade from RC to the final version.
    See here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/faq.aspx

BUT there is hope -- the MSDN folks have posted a blog on how to upgrade from Beta to RC1:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/04/07/delivering-a-quality-upgrade-experience.aspx

I am sure if you keep an eye on the MSDN blogs, they will also post a method to upgrade from the RC to the final version!

    Thanks, roomie! :-) thumb.gif

In my particular case, it doesn't really matter. I'm going to replace the system HDD with an SSD anyway, so I'm totally up to reinstalling system from scratch... deal.gif

I have been using the Windows 7 Beta/64 for several months and I love it! I'm going to try the hack to upgrade to the RC and see how it works. Probably tonight.
