Gravity isn't helping nature

Camping on the Oregon Coast, my wife noticed this little spit bug despirately trying to cover itself. As you can see, gravity is not helping. The bug is black and on top of the branch. Notice the image of the trees in the droplet at the bottom.

    Like it :) They do often seem to have trouble like this. Interestingly I've watched other bugs drinking this spittle esp hoverflies
