I need some assistance. I have read a ton, and did a lot of trial and error.

My site is www.dutch9.com

I want to have categories and subcategoires...I want to 'fix' what I have now vs starting over.

On my home page there is a Portfolio page. Then on that page there are 6 more pages. I want to be able to when you click on Portraits, another page will have all of my portraits: Kids, Famlies, Seniors, etc.

I am not sure how to do this and not mess anything up. PLEASE help!!

Thanks SmugMuggers!

    Hi,

You can get your categories and subcategories set up quickly and easily. First you want to create come custom categories and subcategories. You can create these in the Customize tab of your Control Panel. You'll want to create a category called Portraits, and subcategories called Kids, Seniors, Families, etc.

The next step is to assign your existing galleries to the new categories/subcategories. Click the Customize button under each gallery, and select the appropriate category/subcategory. Don't forget to click Save :-)

The last step is to change to the category view. Click the Portfolio link on your navbar, and click the Categories link in the upper right to change to the categories view. You should now see your Portraits category, and your subcategories will show when you click Portraits if you have set everything up correctly.

I hope this helps, and here's our help page on categories if you need further help:

You have a gallery named Families in a subcategory named Families in a category named Portraits. You should get rid of the sub-category so it's just a gallery named Families in a category named Portraits. Just go to the gallery options and pick None for the sub-category.
