Its our slice of heaven where we try and visit twice a year here. Located in Taranaki is Mount Egmount. Tucked away in the north island of New Zealand and close to New Plymouth. This particualr tree has lost its top now, so I'll hold onto a few of these shots :wink . This one has done fairly well.

So there ya go, its not all macro, but close to it :D

Great capture of a great picture!thumb.gif
I wish it was done with a longer explosure to smooth the water. Too bad the tree was damaged:-(

I like it as it is. I've about had it with all that smooth water. I really like pictures that show water as I see it, and not some Bob Ross impression of silky smooth water. Smooth water has its place, but not in every picture. Great capture. Although it's pretty hard to spot the bugs in this one.

You sure are, Nik, that goes without saying and I don't think I've tried to say anything otherwise. That's why I said that "I" like it, and that "I" have had it with all that smooth water, like you said that "you" wished it would have smoother water. Dunno how we both could personalize our comments more, except for adding a disclaimer or three. So it should be clear that what I wrote is "my" opinion, nothing more. I'd even like to add that I'm very well known for having stupid opinions anyhow.

    Clear:-)
I agree with you that "sliky smooth" can get on one's nerves sometimes..
But this is such a perfect "calendar"/"big poster"/National Geograpics type picture that I simply *had* to have a bit more perfect reflection, for which longer exposure - strictly IMHO:-) - would help...

Hey Danny, what are you doing over here?
This is landscapes=Big and macro=small:D, must have made a wrong turn with the mouse:uhoh.

I see your talents extend beyond macro, it's a terrific shot. The air is prehistoric as mentioned before, but almost like a painting. I'm assuming that you didn't PP any effects other than the standard ones. If you hadn't mentioned the tree top missing I wouldn't have known (I still don't know what it's supposed to look likene_nau.gif).

Great shotthumb.gif. Oh, and I do see the bug on the third leaf of the plant on the leftmwink.gif.

A picture is but words to the eyes.
    Comments are always welcome.

Well a big thanks folks. This particular shot owes me nothing, so its just a fun shot now.

The tree in this shot has the top on it Chris, for some reason the top of the tree is no more and will take a few years to grow back. Just sharpened and brightened Chris, nothing major. I also have a series on 35mm Kodachrome's from years ago. Yep, thats a bug alright Chris, Laughing.gif. Good eyes mate thumb.gif

Anyway, glad you liked it and thanks for the comments.

    Danny.

I love NZ it has to be the most picturesque place to visit (slightly biased because i was born there). I love the shot, brings back good memories of home.
Thought i'd throw in a top view as well...
The natives still call it Mt Taranaki and i was under the impression it was going to be officially renamed back to this.
