Here's a shot of the Grand Tetons on a memorable autumn evening. The red clouds were beautifully reflecting off the Snake River below.

Canon 1Ds MkII & 24-70 f/2.8 L (-1 EV).

Another lovely image from you. I love the soft colors. My only nit would be to clone out what appears to be the end of a tree branch protruding on left side of the image (about halfway up the mountains).

I remember when you used to have those meet-ups there every fall. Are you still doing those? I know you're a pretty busy guy now.

Thanks, Danny! Yes, I agree, that little branch on the left is a bit annoying. I'll have to clone it out.

I don't have the meet-ups anymore as everyone, including myself, is pretty busy. I do go somewhere every fall, however, and a few of us travel together still. To tell you the truth, the size of the meeting was getting too big for my taste. I much prefer the small group I go with now.

Beautiful image, Mahesh. I like the colors in the sky. The Tetons are my second favorite place.

    Gorgeous shot, Mahesh!!! thumb.gif

Is that one perfectly timed exposure? Or a blend?
I ask because you've got such great shadow detail, especially in the Tetons themselves and the trees as well.

    Thanks, Kristine and Chris!

Chris, yes, this is one exposure. The glow from the overhead clouds provided enough diffused light to provide some shadow detail in the mountains and the FG trees.

It would be just another snapshot without the lighting/river! Well seen Mahesh! thumb.gif

Very nice! (noticed the same thing Danny did about the tree branch). You did a good job with a tough backlit exposure, looks like it would be an easier shot at sunrise (though the colors and reflection wouldn't be as dramatic probably). I've never been to Grand Teton (planning my first trip this fall), photos like this are why :D

Thanks, Ron! Ya, this spot is actually a "sunrise location," but it can provide some great sunset opportunities as well. I have more than a few shots from all times in the day from this location :D

Thanks, Mike! Ya, I totally agree. If the light weren't reflecting so nicely off the river, I probably would have passed up the shot....well...actually...I probably would still have shot it rolleyes1.gif

Thanks, Adam! I thought this one was gone from the first page. Almost for got I posted it. :D

As you may already know, sunset locations are often very good sunrise locations, and vice versa!

Great shot of an incredible overlook, Mahesh. There's something to be said about being in the right place at the right time, and having the skills to pull it off.

PS Gotta admit...the title of your post got my curiosity going :D
