Cayman Butterfly Farm

We visited the Grand Cayman Butterfly Farm last week and had some opportunities for macro shots. This is one of my favorites. It was taken with my 18 -55 kit lens which I think did pretty well since it is not a dedicated macro.

    Nice. I like the intersecting diagonals of the bars along the wings and the veins in the leaf. I think what I would have done differently is to shift the view down just a bit, which would bring that last bit of butterfly back in frame along the bottom, and it would lose the black bit in the top left corner.

    I don't generally like my 18-55 kit lens but on occassion it can be really surprising. I came home one day with some great ladybug shots from it that I never even expected to be keepers..
