It's Air Force Week at Hill Air Force Base. The AF Thunderbirds demonstration team was practicing today (along with a few other planes) for the big show tomorrow and Sunday. I'm not sure if I'll make it out for more pics (too many people), but I can try if you think that I can get some better shots.

Really neat shots. They work well in black and white.

I'm voting for the 4th plural one (second from the end).

AWESOME......>>> LOVE THE THUNDER BIRDS >> HUGE FAN...Nothing like a bucket of Sandy Kentucky Fried Chicken, Soda Pop, and an aching neck on the beach watching the airshow... oh, the childhood memories..iloveyou.gif

THESE ARE SUPER... These are my personal favorites in order of favorite. I really admire the way the first one enters the frame.... and you could do a lot with the third one I posted here for bringing out the Thunderbird's underbelly and contrasting it to match the mountains below, whichever ones you decide to choose, they are all amazing... >>> Your gonna need to work the contrast here Silver..We need to see more contrast and shadows in those clouds.. use levels and curves to punch it up and get them sharp.

I also recommend dodging those contrails in some once you punch the sky and give it contrast.. Just be sure to Dodge carefully with a very light tolerance and pressure. Nice work..!cheerleader.gif

I really LOVE the second singular shot and the first plural shot. I agree with Kat that is you work on the contrast some, it would add some pop to these pics. They are already very good...with a little teeny bit of work they could be AWESOME!!!!

I haven't seen the Thunderbirds since I was a little girl. My Dad was in the Air Force, so we usually got to see them every year. I'd love to catch one of their shows again sometime. I'm a bit envious of you right now...

Thanks a million for the comments so far. I'll see what I can do with the contrast, but I have it bumped up pretty high and am starting to lose some detail the higher I go (on some pics, but I can tweak in some other places). Weird lighting conditions are to blame. We had some rain come through today, and it cleared just in time for the TB's practice. That left sun on the mountains (somewhat) and on the planes, but overcast over the mountains.

Looks like I may go back for the real deal tomorrow :D

Well, for now, back to PP.

OK, so here's feeble attempt #2 with more PP on a few.

... and no luck getting the clouds better. Off to shoot more tomorrow or Sunday.

#1, #2, #4... much better.. #1 was my fav... but I am really starting to highly favor the bi-planes... there is just something intriguing about the composition and your new processing on those... I like..!!!! it reminds me of how the old film pros used to capture stuff...clap.gif

This last one is much improved too, and I do like it.... but still not enough contrast in the mountains.. don't forget you can always select them with the lasso and adjust the exposure separately from the rest of the photo..

Look forward to your shoot tomorrow...

2nd and 3rd ones from the bottom in the original post are my favorites. I am more of a plural guy I guess :D

Out of these sets...I actually am really digging the bi-planes (plural) in the loop. I think they created the more dramatic picture for the Black and White portion of this them. Bi-Planes takes my vote buddy. And good captures of the Thunderbirds!!thumb.gif

Thanks again for all the responses!

I did go to the big show today and got some GREAT shots. The whole time, I was thinking of this challenge. I went through 2 batteries (good thing I got the extra) and about 4GB of memory.

I may need some time to process the lot, but I'll post up ASAP.

3 and 4 plural of the original set gets my vote. Though I would like more room int front of the jets in 4
