I'm not sure if it is my eyes or it is the server, but for some reason some of the sideshow pics are not sharp and fuzzy. :dunno

I tried deleting and posting again to gallery, no help. Any Ideas?

Hi Amir, what slideshow, full screen, or gallery? What link (which gallery?). And finally, what browser are you using, and what size monitor do you have and what resolution?

There are some who say that the dynamically scaled images in the homepage slideshow are not as sharp as the standard sized images that Smugmug offers (M, L, XL, XL2, etc...).

If you want to try something, you can try forcing your homepage slideshow to use standard sizes. Since your homepage slideshow is 600x600, you would probably want the medium sized images. You could force your homepage slideshow to use those medium sized images by adding this line to the top of your slideshow definition:

    forceSize: 'MediumURL',

If you're not talking about your homepage slideshow, then ignore this post.

Hi, This has just started happening to me as well. I am using the smugmug slideshow app and up until just a few days ago all was working well, but now any vertical picture that is in my slideshow displays fuzzy and out of focus.

    any ideas?

    thanks!

I see exactly what you're talking about. Your slideshow is using this image:

    http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/555505732_Dz4bM-400x510.jpg
    555505732_Dz4bM-400x510.jpg

Your gallery has this similar sized image in it:
    http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/555505732_Dz4bM-M.jpg
    555505732_Dz4bM-M.jpg

Very big difference in sharpness between the two.

Thanks, this helped (except I used LargeURL for a 600x600). The homepage slideshow used to be the same quality as gallery, but I just logged in and there was severe image degradation (and artifacting around the watermark). Your suggestion fixed the issue.

Andy, any comment on this? This is a pretty serious degradation in quality for the dynamically generated sizes that most people use in their slideshow.

I am having that same problem too! My homepage slideshow has more than a few images that are fuzzy, but appear just fine in the galleries. Also, on my desktop computer they look fine, but on my laptop the look fuzzy. I haven't changed anything recently. Please help!

Photos appear blurred in slide show
    Hello,

I went in to update my slideshow on my home page (delete some old and add some new) and some of the photos are appearing blurred/soft in the slide show. When I go into the gallery they look fine...it's just in the slideshow that they are looking blurred/soft. It's very noticeable...any ideas? This is the first time this has happened...any help would be greatly appreciated!

Same issue being reported here. I'm wondering if dynamically resized images lost their sharpening algorithm.

Edit: I can confirm that these dynamically resized images look a LOT better if they get sharpened. I think something busted at Smugmug for dynamically resized images.

Another example of verticals going soft in slideshow
    Having the same issue.
Vertical shots 5 and 11 are soft in slideshow, horizontals are sharp.
    www.face2facephoto.com.
Thanks for any repair advice. Also can wait for a global repair on your side - I have not had this issue before with many slideshows.

    I'm having the same problem
    Hello,

I am having the same problem...I went in to update my slide show by deleting some photos and adding some new ones...and every 4th or 5th photo appears to be blurry? I have the images in my "Flash" gallery...and if you go into the flash gallery itself they are not blurry...but in the slideshow they are blurry. Good example is photo 20 in the gallery...you can see her face clearly...in the slideshow it's blurry. In the gallery you can view it in the X3 large size and it's clear as a bell. I haven't had any issues previously with the slideshow.

    Appreciate the help!

    Deleted All Verticals
Seems to be the verticals that are affected by whatever has happened. Deleted all the verticals in my gallery to eliminate problem for now. Will wait for fix to post any vertical images.

After I ran across this post, I checked my gallery and found a very blurry photo on my flash slideshow.

I cleared all the cache completely and the very blurry photo is still there using Windows XP, IE 8.

The website is www.allenwaterford.com The blurry photo is the 24th photo in the slideshow (bride between the trees looking back).

The problem seems to be when I'm using Windows XP and IE 8.

The photo looks great using Windows XP and Firefox.
