This is a 1952 Cisitalia 808XF Ford concept production. With Cisitalia, of Italy, design and Ford manufacture, this was the first sports car ever made by Ford. The whole venture was overseen by Henry Ford II himself and was a pet project of his. It preceeded the Thunderbird by 3 years. They had planned on making about 500 of these cars annually....only six were actually made and this one is the only convertible ever produced.
This car was billed as the first American post-WWII sports car.... a debatable claim, but one that was hyped with its introduction. It is a 1947 Kurtis Omohundro. It was designed to fit a Ford chassis. Many leading-edge features were a part of this car, including an aluminum body with a lot of cast brass ( and coated ) major pieces. As it played out, this is the only one of these cars ever to see production.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.
