Delayed Write Error

My 1.5TB external is giving me a Delayed Write Error after its on for a few minutes, I am running XP SP3, is the HD dead? Should I reformat or send it back to seagate?

    Don't panic, it's not dead. Try disabling write caching on the drive. Instructions here. This might slow down performance a bit, but if it clears the problem you're better off. I would also turn off automatic indexing on the volume unless you are using the Windows search on it frequently.
