I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was in the middle of Badwater, Death Valley NP. I saw a gathering storm in the distance. I knew if I waited just a few minutes, the late afternoon sun would dip below the dark clouds and illuminate the FG. I was not disappointed, and the below image is what I came away with. I took about 5 shots before high-tailing it back to the car. I made it just in time as the heavy rainfall began to beat down. Aaahhh...good times!

Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap but memories are priceless.

I remember when this was your avatar and it even looked good at that size.

Thanks, Danny! This is probably the first "good" image I ever took. It is still my biggest seller, even after all these years. The image is "only" 6MP, but I've printed it as large as 24" x 36" and have had no complaints from customers. That Fuji S2 Pro and Nikon 20mm was a darn good combo.

Thanks, Canned Grins! You said a mouthfull! One of the best and simplest (as the really good ones tend to be) advice I ever received was to wait and watch...applies to life as well as photography
