I'm starting really considering using camera shooting stand for studio work. I found a few solutions on the net, but I was wondering if anybody here has a hands-on experience and can share... :ear

IMHO tripods are much more cumbersome to adjust height-wise, plus their legs make them a huge "kick-me" target in crowded places.
I'm also looking for using the pole as a riser for the camera-side WUSB dongle.

What's yours' make/model/cost?
Also: what kind of head (the one that goes between the camera and arm) do you use?
Website
#1: General view (7.5ft tall)
#2: Closeup on the arm/camera (Note: ballhead is *not* part of the deal, I'm using miy Acratech Ultimate V2; neither is 5D2 :-)
Just got it today, assembled (~10 min + pliers), didn't used it for real yet. But I surely hope to use it this coming weekend!

This one is probably largerthan you want or need.......:D
Looked at this 2o some yrs ago and thought it was to rigid for studio work...ofcourse back then I would lay on the floor , stand on my head....what ever to get the shot.....
That is why I decided against the Environmental Projection Systems (EPS out of San Marcos Texas) studio.....camera always locked to the camera stand...no way to get into those funky positions required for a lot of model shooting
if you compare the prices, mine is a *bit* cheaper... Yet it's very solid, and I *know* the customer service is great, so I'm a happy camper...
I too love a free angle, however sometimes I shoot from the same one for quite some time. This one, along with tethered/wireless shooting and remote triggering, may open a new chapter in how I do things...
