Found this and thought it would be interesting to the dgrin community:

Family photo used for print ad

Lessons:
-- pay attention to the resolution of file posted on the web
-- anything posted on the web can be stolen; if you can see the image, it can be saved
-- read terms of service

That image in the store front looks awful big for a web capture. Images get stolen everyday and shared on all the forums and social sites, but I find it a tad hard to believe that someone is blowing up extra large images from web photos.

I believe in the blog itself, she posted the full res file because she didn't know any better. Now, she knows better.

I just wanted to stress that personal snapshot photos need to be locked down, size limited, etc. as well as our professional photos. Basically, don't post full res files and lock down originals.

Also, there is software that will up-rez small files for prints. I can probably find the interview (TWIP) from flickr's Rebekka and how her low res web resolutions files are still being taken, up-res and sold. She really hesitates on posting photos on the web these days because of the various thefts.
