I spent the day in Sequoia with my wife yesterday....we saw 5 adults and 3 cubs. I got bluff charged at Crescent Meadow by a mamma bear...I never saw a cub but it was apparent that she was a nursing mom....she was laying only 10'-15' off of the trail...had to come home and change my pants after that one ...!

Thanks.... hard to tell by the color...but they are Black Bears... no matter what color they come in.
