This might be too dark. I do not have access to my home monitor so I am not doing much post processing! Your comments would be appreciated!

Thank you - it was very moody in the woods!

Not bad, I really like the mood of this image, it is not your normal image which makes this neat in its way.

I like this shot Eia. Good capture. clap.gif I wish the antlers were lit up like the ears, and I wish the feet were not clipped. You might be able to do something with at least one of these in PP.

Thanks for your comment and noticing that it is not the norm. Currently I am in WV (born/raised). My Dad had emergency surgery so I had to fly back home for awhile. It is a different world than the southwest! It's a blessing to be able to experience the different lighting, wildlife, and lots and lots of green!!! I just hope things settle and I am able to get out more! It is therapy for me when I can...

Thanks Dan for your comment. I'm glad you pointed out the feet! Yea, the antlers should be lit for his majesty! But, I can't do much PP right now since I am winging it with camera and bare bones laptop without my software. Still... it is prooving to be good for me to do all I can with camera. I hope to have a chance to get back in the woods before I leave.

I like it, i think it adds to the shot. Like you are actually there and seen him right before he snorts, high tails it and runs! Good catch!

Thanks Khristen; that is basically what he did, snorted and ran.

I used to work on a plantation and I can't tell you how many times I got spooked by one of these beasts. You had a quick hand to catch him with such stillness, regardless of the images being a bit dark or not.. it's super good in my book!

Simply put...Superb! I like the dramatic lighting, and I wouldn't change a thing! Funny thing though, looking at this image on my HP All-In-One, if I move my head to the right to look at the deer head on, the antlers lighten up a bit. The only thing I see wrong, and it is minor to me, and that is the front hoofs being cropped off. Had you actually shot a little lower, that photo would have been magazine quality. Keep up the good work and keep posting!

Wow, thank you for your very kind remarks and suggestion. Ya know...on this Toshiba laptop I looked at the photo from the side and the antlers 'lit up' so to speak. Maybe I can fix that in my program when I get home...

As for the feet...I am trying to be on the ready with wildlife (deer, elk, etc.) but how do you get a good composition on them when they and you are ready to bolt? I guess that is practice!!! :D

Oh if only he'd moved forward a little bit to have that glowing light on those fuzzies he is wearing.....however a really great shot and very much worthy of hanging on your wall as it is.......might even be worth it to submit to a few out door mags/rags for possible publication......I know the feet are cut off, but if story is about young bucks in velvet then it works very well...............

Thanks much for your comment/suggestion. Speaking of submitting... I wouldn't know where to begin; I have no idea how to submit a photo. I guess one starts with magazines...

Lovely photo. Not too dark at all. The lighting isolates the main subject which is excellent technique (whether planned or otherwise). A simple crop would do wonders. Maybe a verticle format with the critter slilghtly off center and eliminating the bright tree trunk on the left but including all or part of the green grass in lower right ?

    Really a nice shot thumb.gif

An extremely beautiful shot. Besides the light I love the vivid nature of this shot and the vivid tones. Well done.

Than you for your comments. Considering that I did very little PP due to no program on the laptop it is especially exciting. But then again, the moment was exciting!:D And I can't wait to get back into those hills again!!!!
