Doing Macro is not as easy as it looks, you will find that using a tripod is about the easiest way to get the sharpest shots, but again most times it's not possible to use one depending where the thing that your trying to shoot is.

I find that using a flash helps a lot when your hand holding, I try to use a diffuser, but with the Canon Gear I found the 580 flash seem to compensate quite well..........I dunno about you but I find you get less keeps hand holding.

Maybe some of the more experienced Macro guys can help you out there Troy

You haven't had the lens that long, I'm sure the more you use it the better you'll get with it...... hope you find a nice colourful butterfly.

    Proboscis Troy mwink.gif , or a butterfly straw :):

Phew, this is gorgeous in so many ways Troy. FANTASTIC balance and a great head on perspective. The colours are beautiful !!, background perfect. The eyes have it and man do they have it, very sharp and the selective focus couldn't be better.

All the best Troy, this is some shot thumb.gif

    Laughing.gif Troy,
Quit spending all your money on lenses and get an "L-class" monitor mwink.gif

Just kidding, and this shot is schweeeeeet thumb.gifthumb.gif As Danny mentions, the perspective is super, the sharpness is excellent for a handheld shot and the colors are awesome. Ya done better than good with this one, IMHO clap.gif

    Bronx Zoo?
Did you take these at the zoo?

Very nice shot. I expect we'll be seeing more of them? :): :): :):

I thought seriously about going, but it didn't work out time and energy wise. My mom lives further out on the island than I thought, the bridge toll got raised to $4.50 each way... That's $9, then the zoo parking and fees, and the gas for the rental car -- we did make it up to Tarrytown and drove past the zoo when we did, got a peek at the Hudson River, and then had to get back to the island.
