Pet peeve - Ack, I need a password!

All -

I love the functionality but I have one pet peeve with this email. Please add a line that includes the name of the person requesting the password and make them fill it out.

I get password emails from people whose email address gives me no clue who they are. This makes it very difficult to figure out whether they should have access to the gallery.

Make the first line your name (First and last) and then leave the second line the email address. Place the name in the email.

This would be a terrific help

Yeah, same feedback I provided three months ago here and this has already happened to me multiple times. If I don't recognize the email address off the top of my head, I can't just send a password. The UI needs to anticipate the model I often have where there are hundreds of viewers I don't know from our school. If I have their name, I can look them up in the school directory (and verify their email address) to see if they are legit. If I only have their email address, there is no easy way to look them up in the school directory unless I can guess their name from the email address.

As it turns out (though nobody but a techhy like myself would know this), all you have to do is put your Smugmug homepage URL into the Open ID box and it will just let you in with that.

    Ack, I need a password!
Please would someone tell me where to change the irritatingly and badly worded automated email that gets generated when someone tries to access a password protected gallery and clicks on "Contact The Photographer"

    Thanks

    Hi,

At present, this can't be changed. Andy answered a similar question in this thread:

    http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=133804

You can add your vote to the feature request here, if you wish:

Yeow! So we have to put up with an auto-generated email that sounds like it was written by a two-year-old!

Thanks Shay. I will certainly add it as a feature request.

I have to add something here...

I put a post up about this here http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=222573 to learn about the issue that is being discussed in this post.

I agree that not knowing who the request is from is daft, but even more embarrassingly, is the way that this mail is auto-worded.

PLEASE guys - a two year old would have written a better worded email. What the heck is Ack??? It makes me look like an idiot.
