Some Bald Eagles

My last camping trip offered up some eagle shots. There were 2 juveniles, and two adults frequenting a few trees near a creek that was flowing into a lake. They were pretty skittish so hard to get close.

Good catches. They're hard to approach.

Even armed with a 200mm lens and a 2x extender, I still can't get close to the ones that perch in the dead tree at the back of our pasture while scanning the river beneath for 'lunch'.

Of course, when they're in the area I have to hide the cats. They almost got one last year.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

That last shot is really cool. Eagles don't much care to be approached. But if you can find one of their favorite trees and stake it out, most of them will scope you out then ignore you pretty quickly as long as you don't move around too much. At least that's been my experience. But they all have personalities and some are more shy than others.

Thanks everyone. It was easy to find the trees they frequented. I just had to look for all the droppings. Laughing.gif I actually missed getting an eagle doing its business by a millisecond in a series of shots. I have never seen one do this before and I was amazed by the volume of the fecal matter, and the distance it shot out! Truly impressive.
