Anyone good with songbird ID?

    You're probably right Steve but my book picture doesn't show the brownish wing bars . ??? headscratch.gif Nice shots with great detail and nice exposure. thumb.gif

    it may be...

    The juvenile plumage (according to my book) is held briefly, is browner and has two cinnamon wing bars and a cinnamon rump .

    It is indeed an immature Black Phoebe. You can also tell by the bare "lips" at the edge of its mouth. Adults will have feathers hiding this.

    This is the site i like to use for bird id http://identify.whatbird.com. You can even get it for you Iphone to use it in the field, very cool.

    What a great link, thanks! There are so many young birds leaving their nests here that it is hard to keep track of what is what. My reference books often lack info on the fledgelings.
