I recently had work in the bay area. I really wanted to capture a memorable shot of the Golden Gate. I'm not sure they are much different from what we've seen before but I was pleased in general. Any advice welcomed.

Certainly looks like you hit all of the tourist shots. Great series.

San Francisco is a wonderful place for photography, and you took some memorable shots while you were there. Very good work. I like numbers 4, 6, 9, 10 and 11. thumb.gif

I was there a few weeks ago and will be going back at the end of the month - maybe two weekends in a row - to continue with a project. The friend I'm going with is from there and knows the city like it's no one's business. He and a friend of his (we're all working on the project - I'm the photographer) can get us into places many can't; such as Coit Tower and the Transamerica building. ("The top of the Golden Gate Bridge may be a little dificult.") You were lucky enough to get some sunshine; while we were there the place was completely overcast except for the day we left. eek7.gif

Here's the shot I took of Coit Tower.

Hmm! I looks like we each took our pictures from the same spot, but you walked a little further down the path. :D

My shot happened completely by accident. I saw this spot between two apartment buildings on my way to Lombard Street. As it turns out, I liked this shot better than any of my Lombard shots. Lombard doesn't lend great shots unless you can get some elevation in my opinion.

For this trip I was based in Sausalito. The Casa Madrona specifically. I hoped to capture some of the "quaint" feel of the town. Most of the marina shots were from the balcony of our room. Something different than the usual bridge and Alcatraz tourist shots. What a great town and city. Your lucky to live in such close proximity.rolleyes1.gif

Sausalito is a great little town. The hotel shots are certainly different. Next time you hit the area, go to the top of the Headlands near the lighthouse and shoot the city. This is especially nice in the early evening. Of course the fog plays a major role, but on those good days, it is quite stunning.
You can also catch great shots of the city from the top of Mt Tam.

The last few shots in the first set were shot from the Headlands. Too much fog that day to get the city. I actually had hoped for a thicker fog some days to get a more dramatic shot. Only had one fog free day the entire week.

Wow, you had a good week.
Usually winter is better for fog free days. This time of the year, we have fog, smog and wild fires.
On occasion you can get above the fog for some nice shots, but you have about the same odds as playing the lottery. It is tough for those who live here, visitors really have a heck of time.

For #5, I guess the focus, focused the flowers instead of the tower? Anyways, very nice photos of the Golden Gate bridge. rolleyes1.gif

Did you like the Alcatraz shot? I was playing on the juxtaposition of the harsh prison and beautiful gardens (emphasis on the garden obviously). My only nit with the shot is that it's not really apparent that it's a prison unless you mention it in the title.
