In the land of Mosquitoes

I visited the Viera Wetlands today (6/13/09). By far, the most abundant form of wildlife present was the Mosquitoes. The insects were eating me alive!! If your interest is the study of the Mosquitoe, the Viera Wetlands was the place to be today.....

Even with the Mosquitoes, I did manage to find a few birds.......

Very nice shots. With all of the rain two weeks ago, there seem to mosquitoes everywhere now.

Good set Ira. The mosquittos are really heavy out there right now. I'm fortunate as mosquittos never bite me.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I have to just wonder what it would be like to have access to such a wide variety of critters as you do Ira. Almost every time you post multiple shots I find myself trying to look up what the heck that thing is or those things are.

BBWD in the file name got me on the acronym finder. Black bellied whistling duck. Beautiful picture! clap.gif I'd suffer the mosquitos to get that shot. :D

Sorry about that Bud. I tend to forget that some of our birds may not be in other areas of the country.

The Black-bellied Whistling Ducks are an interesting species of duck in that they spend a lot of time in trees. They nest in tree cavities or nest boxes that have been placed in trees.

Wow. That pretty much requires you to be a nature photographer. :)
