Thunderstorms are pretty uncommon in Seattle, so when I saw this natural show just outside my window, I had to set up my camera and tripod. The body of water you're seeing is Lake Washington. Enjoy!

Lightening shots=always cool. What I really like about this is the reflection in the water. thumb.gif

I love shooting lighting, and have galleries full of them. I think that qualifies me to say that this is a really good one. thumb.gifthumb

Great shot! Love those colors and the four distinct lightening bolts. I know how rare lightening is around here, so you took advantage of a rare opportunity.

Also - I didn't know a starving photographer could afford that view lol3.gif

Thanks, Ron! Well, I'm starving for beauty, not food or money. Plus, it makes for a catchy name. :D

Great shot Thapamd, I'm also a big fan of getting out there if we have any lightning. Nice to see you didn't have to travel far for this one thumb.gif
    May I take your picture?

This is an awesome lightening strike image. Colors are great, as is the comp.
What was your technique, were you using bulb and covering the lens to capture multiple strikes?
    Great job Mahesh.

Thanks, Wendell! I was shooting at f16 and and exposing for the scene which meant that the shutter was going to be open for about 30 seconds or so. Any lightning caught in that time period would be captured in my image. I just taking multiple images in a row. A few of the shots caught the lightning. :D

Thanks, mushy! I'm a big fan of traveling, but sometimes it's nice to roll out of bed and take the shot. :D

    Thanks
Thanks for the shooting info. It's nice to see a "backyard/local" shot that's really great instead of travel to exotic locations.
