Humpbacks off Maui

Took these a few years ago at Christmas time. There was a mother with a calf, her escort, and a couple of other males that were competing for her attention. Our tour managed to stay on them for the better part of an hour, and of the 400 or so shots I took, these were some of the most interesting. No breeching that day, which would have been the topper on what was an amazing morning. Shot with my D50, and we're already planning a return trip with better skill and gear

This is actually the 2 competing males belly up to each other and slapping each other with their pectoral flukes. All part of the dance.
