My first attempt at butterflies, all handheld (need to get into the habit of taking the tripod) and shot in jpeg as I forgot to put it on raw -so out the camera, slight crop and that is it. Tropical Wings Zoo in Essex, UK

Had a great day and I hope these are up to your standard, I am really starting to enjoy the wildlife side of shooting and can see it becoming a very addictive (read expensive) part of the hobby lol.
Thanks for looking, comments good or bad are always welcome (well maybe not the bad ones)

I'd say you did very well David. Beautiful color on the butterflies and ya gotta love the meerkats. At least I think they're meerkats. ??

Good set of images and you're right about wildlife photography being addictive and exepsnive.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Excellent set. Love the butterflies....more than up to our standards, but we are an easy going group. :D I also love the bird perched on that beautiful flower with the sharply curved bill. What kind is it?

    Thank you guys.
Maestro - I believe it's called a 'sun bird' followed it around for ages before it stopped long enough for me to grab a few shots - one more for you (not as sharp as the other I'm afraid)

articblooms: yep 1st 'proper' butterfly shoot, have tried the old 'wild' shot and got one or two but this was a full on assault lol.

Concidering niether of my lenses are macro's I really am quite pleased with the results. CZ16-80 majority shot with the 70-300 G

Thank you all once again, it's looking through the forum that helps with the ideas and for that I am gratefull
