Someone has become a fan of mine. Apparently this means they have tagged me as family?

What happens when someone becomes a fan? Do they get updates when new pictures are uploaded?

Do they get updates on my actions (notification of uploads etc)? Or is my account just kind of bookmarked in their family section?
