Can't sign on to uploader

I just found SM and was (was) really excited about it. I joined up and was ready to start making gallerys.

Problem is, the uploader keeps asking me for my email and password. When I put it in, it says the sign on failed. I've been dicking around with this for too long now and I'm pissed off. :wxwax:wxwax:wxwax:wxwax:wxwax:wxwax

Can someone give me some idea how to fix this?

I'm on a Mac running OS X, using Firefox.

Thanks everyone.

    Hey,

Sounds like it is most likely username/password issue, email smugmug and they will sort you out pretty quick.

    Good luck,

I've written them too. Just to make sure I had the right info I logged off and back on to the web site. That worked okay.

Doesn't make sense. I tried the Java loader, but nothing shows up. I waited at least 5 minutes for the jave app to appear. I guess Smugmug isn't for me. I'll have to find some other place.

    Still nothing
Okay, I emailed smugmug, asking for help about the uploader.
Nothing. Haven't heard back. Is it supposed to take that long?

    Hi SnapTheFrog,

Welcome! We don't seem to have received any emails from you and I don't know why that is because we don't have spam filters. ne_nau.gif

My guess is you did a system update recently when Apple broke Java. They patched it a few days later:

Let us know if that's not it.

    Thanks,
    Baldy

I tried the patch, still no good. The uploader says Login failed.

Do me a favor and search your computer using finder for smugmug. See if ther is any preference file for the uploader stored. It should be titled com.smugmug.uploader.plist . If it is there, delete it and try it all again.

If that doesn't work, try changing your password on your account on the site and try using that. If your password has any symbols in it, change it to a simple alpha-numeric password and try that. Please let us know if that doesn't work, and let us know what step did work if that gets it going. :)

    Sorry for the hassle!

It would also be interesting to know if this uploader works:

    Nope, and nope.
I found and deleted the plist file and changed my password. Still get the same thing. "Login failed: //simds02/users/xxxxxxxx" The 'x' is my first initial and last name.

I'm batting a thousand. I tried this too.
    "NoClassDefError:javax/imageio/stream/Imageinput"
appears in the box that I'm guessing I'd normally be dragging and dropping.

Hmmmm... Nasty. My guess is Java has some installation/configuration error on that machine. Since all our Mac uploaders depend on Java, this is a bummer.

Not to send you on a wild goose chase, but have you tried Holocore's uploader?

    http://holocore.com/?PictureSync

    Sorry for the problems,

Tried it, and it works. I don't understand the problem with the other apps, but all I need is something to upload with. It's a bit slower than yours, but I can live with it.

    Thank you for the help.

Edit... actually PictureSync takes a very long time. It's been working on the same 29 pictures for 15 minutes. I think I'll go back to browsing pictures one by one.

    Well, we tried.
