OK I couldn't wait to get back home to process some more images. I worked these on my laptop without the benefit of a calibrated monitor or my usual PP tools. But they were both fairly well exposed full frame images so I hope they turned out OK.

My favorite image of the weekend. Ironically one of the first shots too :dunno

One of the closest encounters of the weekend (or ever). Full Frame zoomed all the way in at 200mm :huh .

Beautiful series! What would have made this series absolutely perfect is if you could have captured this guy as he was plucking the fish from the water.

We have eagles here too, but I'm never at the right place at the right time, as my luck usually goes. One of these days, I'll be lucky enough to grab a shot. I'd be happy if it just turned out half as good as your's, as your's are always awesome!

    Thanks, Gary.

Back home now and re-edited these two. NR helped a lot on the second one. Plus due to the poor monitor I was on it looks like I had oversaturated a bit. They look better now...

I must say You did a terrific job on these, I just replaced my old computer and was surprised at the difference in images. It took me a little time to redial in and then I posted shots in several Forums to get members opinions.I feel I'm getting closer to reality than I did with my old setup!!thumb.gif

Thanks for the comments. Yes the machine you work on makes a big difference in the digital world. I bought a Spyder calibration tool a while back and it did wonders. Takes the guesswork out of it when you have more than one machine.

I use Spyder also, and it is pretty accuratethumb.gif Monitors can all be so different. I was so surprised at my galleries when I got on my sisters HP. Made me realize the importance of accurate color before editing.

Back to your beautiful Eagles. They are wonderful work, and the colors look perfect. Not overdone, just right, very real. Well done, Dan.

Thanks, Linda. This year I'm shooting a Nikon D300 w/Nikkor 200-400 f/4. Much less PP required to get true colors compared to the combo I uses last year i.e. D200 w/Sigma 100-300 HSM. When I look at straight OOC images from the two settups, there's a huge difference.

Gorgeous shots both. 200mm - wow, you were close! Would love to go to Alaska to shoot the eagles and bears sometime. Landscapes ain't too shabby either.

Thanks for the comments, Ron and Adam.

Yeah, Ron, that one was right on top of me. Looking through the viewfinder I didn't even realize how close it was and I tracked it and zoomed back in as it went by. So I didn't even realize until I was culling on the PC that I was at 200mm on that shot. I had several frames from that sequence (including the moment of striking the fish) with clipped wings :cry
