So my wife asks me if I can take a few pictures of her co-workers two daughters. I was told the co-worker just wanted a few pictures of her kids and didn't want to go the whole Sears/JC Penny route. I said that was fine but that she needed to make sure her co-worker was aware that I am not a pro and couldn't guarantee pro-like quality........but it would be free. :thumb

I'm driving home from work the day of the shoot and I get a call from my wife. It went something like this:

Me: Hello

Wife: Hey, we are meeting at the park at 5:30 for the pictures.

Me: Okay, I'm kind of excited about taking their pictures; I hope I don't disappoint.

Wife: I'm sure you will do fine; I love your pictures.

Me: Thanks, but you are my wife.....you have to say that. :D

Wife: True, I didn’t know you were going to be taking Jasmines engagement pictures.

Me: Huh??????

Wife: Oh, I didn't tell you that?

She just slipped it right in on me all nonchalant like. I couldn't believe it! Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck the whole way home from work and the whole way to the park.

Anyhow; I'm sorry to ramble, here are a few of the results. C&C more than welcome.

These are excellent for a completely unplanned shoot. I really like 5 (try it without the tilt), 8, 10 & 11. I am sure they will be thrilled.

Thanks Jeff! The couple made it relatively easy for me. They seem to be happy with the pictures but I was sweating bullets for a while there. :whew

    Interesting ....
    Not bad ... not bad.

(It helps if the pic are numbered)
This is a pretty safe set.
    B&W are a little flat.

    #1 is okay
#2 is nice - good composition.
#3 the tilt is over kill and does not work.
leave some more space in front or around the couple.
#4 use some fill lighting in pp and bring up the faces.
if you blow out the back ground a little - cool.
    #5/#6 -nice.
#7 straighten and crop off right side a little.
shorten the DOF would help isolation.

#8 could use a tele lens and add narrow DOF
    #9 - okay
#10 - lighten the couple - interesting idea

11/12/13 get rid of - do nothing for me.

The jumps are a great idea - but trash cans in the background
try a different shooting angle - could even have a semi blurred jumpers.

the last one is a nice shot and pp.

    does this help?

    Just my 2 cents.

    Later,
    _Mark
