Lightroom Catalog with 2 computers

I just started using Lightroom on my laptop, been using it on my desktop for about a year.

I imported my catalog from my Desktop to my Laptop, it took about an hour hardwired w/Ethernet.

After I modify photos on my laptop, I export them to my smugmug and my desktop simoltaniously.

I wanted to keep my modifications from my laptop in sync with my desktop, after working on my laptop
I simply copied Lightroom 2 Catalog.lrcat to my desktop (after backing up catalog) it only took 30 seconds. It seems to have worked, I can see modifications I have made.

My question is, Will this pose any unforeseen problems? Or is this the way it should be done?

What you're doing will work, but you'll spend less time transferring if you use the recommended workflow, which is export catalog/import catalog. This will let you export individual folders or collections and import them to a second machine to update the same images on the second machine. Instead of having to move the entire huge catalog.
