I have a bunch of questions I need to ask.

Here I go.

1.When I'm in auto focus mode on my FILM SLR my kit lens that came with the FILM slr want's to back focus A LOT, What do I need to do in order to get rid of the back focus?

2. I've tried to ask this before but no one wanted to answer this so here goes the question again.

Why can I get awesome DOF shots with my FILM slr that I can't get on my digital SLR? They are both rebels, One is a rebel mII FILM and the other one is a Rebel SXI, The digital SLR is really hard to focus in Manuel mode, While the FILM slr is sup sup super EASY to focus in Manuel mode.

3.Has anyone have got this problem when they switch from FILM slr with out a LCD to a D-SLR and finding your self looking on the back panel of the FILM slr out of habbit?

Sorry my film days were manual focus, it was quicker.

With the DOF, I think I read on this forum somwhere that the crop factor has to do alot with it. I try to search for the post and link, if I find it.

    1. There are a lot of possible reasons for focus errors. The most common is the focus sensors picking up the background rather than your subject.

    2. Two questions here:

DoF: the DoF of your Film Rebel will be somewhat more shallow than your Digital Rebel because of the difference in image size. A 35mm frame of film is 36x24mm, the Digital Rebel sensor size is 22.5x15mm. The DoF difference is equivalent to about 2/3 stop in aperture.

    Manual Focus:
The Digital Rebel has a smaller viewfinder than Film Rebel because of the difference in frame size. It is harder to focus on smaller viewfinder. There are likely a number of other differences between the viewfinders as well, but I don't know enough about either camera to list them. Different ground glass, prisim vs. mirror, and focusing aides in the viewfinder can all make it easier to focus.

    3. Can't say that I have, but I haven't shot fillm in several years.
