Cost to repair loose hood on 300mm f/4.0 L lens?

Hi,

a friend of mine has a Canon 300mm f/4.0 L (non-IS) lens with
a loose hood. The (build in) hood rotates freely and cannot be
tightened any more (nor can it be pulled off the camera).

Does anyone have any experiences with sth like this? Do they
still service the "old" 300mm lens?
