    Hi there tortillatorture (interesting nickname)
Welcome to the Dgrin Forum and congratulations on your First Post clap.gif

I found using a reversed lens was just too hard for me,
and I failed miserably at my attempts.

You can clearly see the shallow DOF in your first two images,
    and some distortion.

If you do a search on this site you will find there are other folks who use the reversed lens technique with great success.

Personally I find it much easier to use a Macro Lens,
and way less mucking around trying to get the shot.

If you really want to use a reversed lens as a MACRO you are sure to find more information from others who do too, in some older posts.

Thanks for sharing, keep posting thumb.gif ... Skippy :D

Rather like the way #3 came out. The DOF is rather thin in the first two shots of insects. Normal to stop the main lens down to F8-F11 to get more DOF but then you might need flash.
Good experimenting. You can also just reverse something like the kit lens onto the body and get highish magnifications. Probably the easiest way though is just to use a set of extension tubes (eg Kenko) on a lens around 50mm.

    thank you both! =)

hi Lord Vetinari, thank you for info! i use two lenses,
    i hold a pentax kitlens 18-55 reversed over a fixed 50mm with F1.4
i need to keep experimenting with this, so much fun! =)

J: I think if you mount the kit lens on the camera normally, then hold the wider aperture 50mm f1.4 (reversed) in front, you might have less vignetting.

H: Also mebbe try holding the kit lens (alone) reversed in front of the camera mount (set it to a fairly wide angle for greatest "magnification.").

J: They also sell reversing rings for this (as well as macro couplers for the other).

    H: Have fun!

    hello, thnx for more tips=)

att 55mm it worked well but much less magnification than the other way around.
it was all black with a small circle when the kitlens was at 18mm tho.
H: Also mebbe try holding the kit lens (alone) reversed in front of the camera mount (set it to a fairly wide angle for greatest "magnification.").

i didnt manage to block out the light so everything went blackish=)

that must be the way to go for me, holding a camera + a lens and my breath... its just too exhausting=)
    H: Have fun!

    :D

and to make this reply slightly more interesting im adding a couple of
old shots taken with a finepix e510, a compactcamera that had a macrofunktion...kinda.
