After months using DGrin for free (and feeling guilty), I have finally taken the plunge and opened up a smugmug account. Now for the fun of uploading and categorizing the photos.
Can any of you amateurs tell me what you have found most useful about your smugmug account. I'm still not sure why I want to have one.:dunno

To showcase my passion of photography and in the near future to use it to make money by selling prints and for promotion of myself.
The second is for family. It's nice to be able to post pictures after a holiday or birthday party, etc., and have family, no matter where they live be able to go on line, see the pictures, download them to their hard drive or order prints.
The service for the price smug mug provides is excellent and not even closely matched by anyone else.
Ah well, we all have to start somewhere...

Whatever he said:-)
2. I upload my best pictures to share on Dgrin and to have a backup of my favorite prints. This saved me the other day when my hard drive crashed.
3. I have some public galleries that function as an online "Portfolio"
4. I sell prints, some event shots & some portrait work. This easily pays for my professional account. I haven't really sold any noncommissioned works yet, but I can still hope. I hope to make enough to pay for the account and hopefully buy some new lenses in the future.
I'm sure there are more reasons, but these are my major uses of my account.
