    These are really cool,
The background colors go really well with all the shots. My favorites are #5 and #6. A dark subject against a dark background is a very hard capture, but you pulled this one off and I really like it. Your caption for #6 is quite humorousrolleyes1.gif.

Thanks for once again sharing wonderful macros,
    Chris

Pic of the rig I use here- http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1031&message=13654064
Using flash with camera set to manual normally 1/200th sec, F11-F16. Flash in ettl mode. When taking the pics I try to angle the rig so the flash is straight on to the subject. For the last pic- no suprises I took the flash off and was hand holding it underneath the leaf, whilst handholding the camera and taking the pic- quite suprised it came out!
A lot of the pics are taken on one of my bonsai Acer trees which have nice leaf colours.

Who's a macroholic, never heard of them rolleyes1.gif

Can you guess which one I like the most Brian. I bet you can mwink.gif Beautiful sharp shot of that and I also like the coloured edges. Interesting effects you are getting with your flash technique. Very nicely done Brian.

All the best in the UK, you macroholic thumb.gif

Have to guess the bubble shot :):
I actually liked shots #1 and#5 the best possibly because they are the exact opposite of each other- one random chaos and the other styalised design.

    Cheers

Now how did you guess that Brian :): . Love them all but that shot is a favourite subject. The 5th shot is very unique in its perspective. Always love the unusual and thats one of them. Excellent work Brian.

All the best and keep them coming. I'll post up a katydid and the drop trick. you might like those.

    J: Very nice work!

H: You, and your setup, do a very nice job.

J: I like the POV you take, and how you work the lighting.

H: And the titles are killer!

    Ok keep yourself together!
Thanks J&H- think it's about getting a rig that works and then practice a lot.
One thing that maybe obvious, is that with this type of shot you really do not know what it is going to look like until you get on the PC. Partly because I'm not sure how the background will come out and also I have to wear reading glasses to see anything on the camera LCD but do not use them to shoot so I never get around to seeing the shots on the camera!

Sorry about the titles- sometimes my imagination runs away with me-rolleyes1.gif

J: Yeah, know what you mean. My keeper percentage is pretty low (on technical grounds alone!).

H: But it's nice to every once in a while bring one up and go WOW!

J: I may have to get bifocals one of these days. It's getting harder and harder to see the LCD.

H: Keep up the good work. Macros are so much fun.

Very nice work LV. I like the bubble shot, but the last two are just great. Very original. Keep posting great shots.
