Taughannock Falls Side Shoot

My daughter came with me when I went to shoot the waterfall, so afterwards she wanted to play in the stream, so she did, and I took pictures. Note, I'm trying to work with her on her smile LOL. Her REAL smile, when she laughs or smiles on her own looks nothing like this, but for some reason at some point she acquainted the request to smile with an overbite smile haha.

for me its a tie between the first and 2nd....i like the first as a photograph...the second is sort of a hint to her craziness.

One and two are overprocessed and overexposed. The third is by far the best. A touch underexposed, but still good. Great expression from the subject.

With regard to the first two, be very careful about blown highlights. They can work well in rare situations, but generally, they distract the viewer. The human eye is drawn towards bright areas, so blown backgrounds detract focus from the subject.

Are there any pros who can give a suggestion about how to handle the brightness of that hand? I'm afraid that burning might just make it grey...

the overblown/overexposed look was what i wanted and processed to get that result...sorry it doesnt work for you

When I'm referring to the overexposed and overprocessed areas, I'm more referring to the background. I think your processing further exacerbated the original issue of overexposed background. I'd recommend maintaining your edits on your daughter, but making separate adjustments to the background using layer masks in Photoshop. By doing this you could keep the high contrast look for your daughter, but not make the background as distracting.
