I was just sitting down and watching the fireworks when the father with his daughter sitting on his shoulders just happen to stand in front of me. A total candid moment, that's all.
I didn't even speak to them. I just took the shots as I saw them. Fireworks in focus, I think would make it less abstract and I just wanted to create interesting light patterns in the background and keep the girl more in focus and isolated from the reality of the fireworks.
I used a Canon 5D with a 135mm f2L lens, in manual.
ISO 500, f2, 1/125 in RAW and processed in LR a bit. The fireworks are actually quiet bright and offers enough ambient lighting for the shot.
