Ok, I've not shot bugs before, but I borrowed a ring flash from my brother in law which didn't have the right ring adaptor so I just had a couple of goes holding it on. C&C most welcome on this.....

Thanks Phil, I was wondering about that. I was struggling with my borrowed ring flash, I had to set it as low as possible and then shoot at F22 around 1/250th just to stop it over exposing. I couldn't get it to work at all on TTL.

I've just ordered a Marium DRF14N ring flash which should hopefully be more suited to the job.

True, though it was late in the evening and this one seemed to be a bit dopey which helped.
