ideas for father/son?

The girlfriend of the father hired me as a Father's Day gift to shoot portraits of the father and son. I've met the woman before at a family portrait session, and know HER family pretty well, but I've never met the boyfriend.
I've made contact with the boyfriend letting him know some available dates and asked him to think about whether there is an activity he'd like incorporated into the shoot, but I also planned to do some traditional portraits. I'd like some ideas for posing the duo. If you have examples, I'd love to see them.
