Drag Racing action at Numidia Dragway
Hi everyone! Well, I spent most of the day Sunday at Numidia Dragway shooting with my Nikon D300 & 70 - 300 non VR lens, all hand held. The day was mostly overcast, and it did rain several times through out the afternoon causing delays in the racing action. After around 6pm they finally called it a day when they got the weather report that the next rain was going to last several hours. Anyways, here are a couple of what I got.

The ones that are tight on the top and left side are due to cropping as much of the distracting stuff out. Just above where I cropped the top, is the top of the wall, and some distracting landscape. Since I was shooting head on, and unable to completely blur the background to show speed, I left some foreground in the shot. I'm hoping that the next time I get to the track, I'm going to spend most of the time around mid track, so I can work on my panning. Back in my days of 35mm film, I was decent at panning, but that was back in the 80's, and now I'm a bit rusty. If I don't get back before Aug. 16th, I'll get a chance to practice panning during the Tour de Millersburg bike race.

Hehehehe. The fastest cars/trucks are allowed to go around here is 45. The nearest freeway is 30 some miles away in either direction. I wish I had some of my old slides from back when I shot the IMSA and Indy car races down in Florida!
