Second Beach sunset

went out to La Push yesterday to shoot sunset at Second Beach. there were only a dozen or so people on the beach, and by sundown, only 4, who stuck around to shoot the sunset. the sunset itself was almost boring - aside from the sun setting through the "hole in the wall", there wasn't much to recommend it, and the other three photographers disappeared right after the sun did. their loss! i hung around, the only person on the beach, for another 30-45 minutes, watching the colors in the sky... the best colors almost always appear well after the sun actually sets, it's amazing how many people still haven't figured that out! :D anyway, here are a few from my trip... 5D and Tammy 24-135, various settings...

Love those last two! I always say there's two peaks shooting the beach at sunset, when the sun is near the horizon, and the other about 15-30 minutes later. Glad you stuck around for when the light got awesome.

I might head out that way this weekend.

The last is my fave with that beautiful light! I also like the first one. For fun I think I would crop the pic just to the second wave out so it looks something like walking to infinity! :D

Nice job. Really lovely colors. It is amazing that more people don't figure out that it pays to hang around for a while after sunset. Well done thumb.gif

I am a sunset and sunrise person. I love these. I saw something on the net the other day that stated some of the beautiful colors we are getting in the skies are from some recent Russian volcano eruptions. Whatever it it I have to say I love them.

interesting! i hadn't heard of any volcanic activity in Russia recently, but that could certainly account for some pretty sunsets...
