I need to make the sculptures in these two pictures "pop". You can see the problem I have...I need a clear picture of the sculptures...making them stand out from the background. The sculptor will be using these photos for marketing etc...so he doesn't care what the background looks like...just as long as the photos are "presentable" and the sculptures are plainly visible against a bizarre background.

Thanks in advance for the help. Now for the first picture.

    Hey There,

Looks like a tricky setup... tight location, busy nearby background, etc.

My first though is that you need to find some better light, the blown out areas where the sun is coming through the trees is distracting. Are there any times of day when the sun is shining down on the front of them?

Do you have/are you able to us any off camera lighting? If so, my thought would be to try to set it up so that you're lighting just the sculptures and letting the backgrounds fall off into the dark. Maybe around twilight/early evening, with some low lights on either side pointing up at the sculptures?

On the second one, maybe something similar with lights at the base of the four pillars pointing straight up at them? Maybe gelled?

Put your camera on a tripod after dark, with camera in bulb, ISO 100, manual focus, and paint the statues with a small tungsten flashlight. That will outline the statues nicely, and the background will remain black. Use colored gels on the light for more pop, or use colored LED lights for more colors.

You could also use an off camera flash, handheld, to light the statues.

These will gives you lots of possibilities.
