Hello,

I am new Here, and am starting out doing Photography on the side, considering im still only in high school.

Everyone my teachers, family friends are all telling me that I should be putting m work into a portfolio, to show people who might be interested in my photography.

I mostly shoot family portraits and stuff.

How do any of you have your portfolios set up

Suggestions welcome!
Thanks

These days, I mostly point people to my smugmug website. I also keep a physical portfolio of some prints in case anyone want to see them. It used to be that people were a little distrustful of digital and the quality of the prints that could be produced. It doesn't seem to be such an issue any more.

If you use a website, it's a good idea to have a separate album for what you consider to be your portfolio.

    Thank you.

I've been working on putting together a website of my images, I study Web Design in School.

But What would you recomend for something to carry around with me when I go to someplace that I'd be trying to sell my photography to, that might not have a computer handy?

You can go to an art or hobby store and pick up an artists' portfolio case. I have one in black with a zipper and handles. The pages inside are 11.5 x 14, plastic sleeves with black paper as a background. I also have a photo album I use for my wedding portfolio. I have considered having a book printed, but then I wouldn't be able to swap out photos or add to it. You can see that there are several ways you can go.

I recommend a traditional portfolio book vs a photo album. Archival USA has them pretty cheap. There are better quality ones out there but cost more.
I currently run 24 photos in my commercial product book. 11x14 metallic prints. They are large enough to showcase the quality and printing.
A website is nice and certainly easy, but seeing prints in hand is quite different than viewing the same image on a website.
