Nikon D50 - shot counter?
Greetings, excuse the noobiness of my post please...
I just bought a used Nikon D50 as my first digital SLR, finally made the step up after putting a million miles on an old Yashica 35mm.
I see a lot of stuff on sale here with "25,000 shots", etc., and I know there must be a way to review the shot count / number of shutter firings / whatever you want to call it. I just don't have a clue how to, and neither the manual nor the aftermarket guide book explain.
Anyone care to enlighten me how I can review the shot count for my new camera?
Thanks... I'm enjoying this site quite a bit. Found out about it through ADVrider.com. :thumb

In the Nikon line, this capability did not exist in the D1 series or the D100, xo I don't believe you can use EXIF readers against those models.
Nikon service can reset the counter after a major service operation, which I believe they do after a shutter box "and" mirror box replacement. If those operations have not been performed then I believe you can trust the EXIF actuations counter. (Of course if the shutter and mirror assemblies have been replaced, it's almost like a new machine anyway.)

I'm partial to the D50, great little camera. I'm at 54k and all is well.

I'm thinking maybe the number is 8,000 instead of 28,000.
The last file name from today is 9819.jpg
but that software says 27,906.
There's no way i have taken that many shots in just two months.
Please post the original.
Nice shot, by the way.
